GALENTINES DAY (SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 16)
It’s all about the love between friends as Historic Downtown Glendale presents Galentine’s Day on Saturday, Feb. 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a fun day of activities to gather your best girlfriends together to celebrate the value of friendships.
The locally-owned businesses in the Catlin Court and Old Towne districts have created this event to celebrate the treasured love between women and have planned a perfect day for you and your best friends. “This event is all about celebrating love, your love for your friends, and a little splurging on yourself,” said Valerie Burner, owner of Bears & More and chairperson for Galentine’s Day.
Start your day at the Portable Information Booth (fondly nicknamed Mrs. PIB) located at 58th Drive and Palmaire Avenue to pick up the activity list and downtown walking map. As you travel around from shop to shop, you and your gal pals can create your own Galentine’s Day charm bracelet. The starter bracelet can be purchased for $5 each at Glendale Flowers & Gifts (7145 N. 58th Drive) or Spinning Wheel Antiques & Gifts (7015 N. 58th Ave.) Then, follow the Charm Trail map to purchase additional charms at participating shops for $2 each.
There will be fun things to do along the way too, including make and take activities, artist demonstrations, fun photo ops, lovely gift ideas at the unique boutiques and specialty shops and sweet treats for your sweet tooth at the local eateries.
The Annual Galentine’s Day event is presented by the Historic Downtown Glendale Merchants Association and the downtown business community. For more information, visit www.VisitDowntownGlendale.com or call 623-299-2060.
