Glendale Salvation Army Angel Tree Program at Arrowhead Mall
Children represented by "Angels" on The Salvation Army Angel Tree at Arrowhead Towne Center in Glendale, AZ are awaiting selection for the Christmas season. Glendale’s 2010 Angel Tree Program officially kicks off on November 26 at Arrowhead Towne Center. This year's program will aim to serve 1,200 families in need (500 more families than in 2009), which equates to about 4,000 children.
The drive is underway to match "Angels" from the tree with gifts for Christmas morning. Caring individuals select one or more of the angels from the tree, purchase gifts from the list and return the unwrapped gifts to The Salvation Army to distribute in time for Christmas. Donors may purchase the need, the wish, or both, or may choose to buy something from each clothing size listed.
The Salvation Army Angel Tree program provides underprivileged children with holiday gifts and proof that someone cares.
This program relies on the selfless giving and support of the community to bring joy and happiness to those less fortunate during the holiday season. No child chooses to live in poverty. The Angel Tree program provides clothing, special-needs gifts and other wished-for items such as toys.
During a screening process to verify need, Angels (children ages 17 and under) are qualified for the program. Angels are assigned a tag listing their name, age, sex, clothing size and the item(s) they would like or need. During the holiday season, these tags are hung on the Angel Trees at Arrowhead Towne Center. In addition to the trees at the mall, many corporations have Angel Trees at their offices.
